The Basics

Agriculture is a major part of the Dominican Republic both economically, and culturally.  According to the CIA World Factbook, agriculture accounts for 11.5% of the national GDP and 14.6% of the labor force.  The country’s major crops are sugarcane, coffee, cotton, cocoa, tobacco, rice, beans, potatoes, corn, bananas; cattle, pigs, dairy products, beef, and eggs.
